In a unified act of resistance, desert tortoises from across Southern California, Nevada, and Arizona have established a headquarters for their pro-tortoise movement in an abandoned miner’s cabin in a secret location in the Mojave Desert. Alarmed by inadequate and ineffective outside leadership on the matter, tortoises have organized in a quiet but fierce protest. Headquarters will serve as a geographic and conceptual center for urgent and radical change for the survivability of the tortoise. Part of a growing campaign, tortoises are allying across the animal kingdom in relentless pursuit of inter-species thriving.

As their first acts of progress, tortoises are piloting groundbreaking safe transit solutions, sustaining a multi-media awareness effort, chartering an inter-species advisory council, and aggregating human research on their species.
